The Life and Times of Algernon Swift

My first book, The Life and Times of Algernon Swift, is being published on the 9th of February by Head of Zeus, and will be available from all good bookshops and online. It will also be available as an E-book.

In a lot of ways the child of this website, the book features an earnest young man named Algernon who finds himself pitted against the pitfalls and pratfalls of the English language.

We follow his progress as he attempts to cope with his elderly relative, Reverend Hawker, a man with an exasperating inability to mean one thing at a time, as well as the exorbitant passion of the exquisite Mavis (a woman with X on her mind).

And here is a short excerpt from the book, thanks to Good OnPaper magazine’s website.

I will be signing copies of the book at Stroud Bookshop on Saturday the 11th of February from 11am.

I’ll also be on BBC Radio Gloucestershire from 3pm on 1st February talking to Nicky Price about the book.

Over the next few weeks I will be tweeting and instagramming regular cartoons in the lead-up to publication. Here’s an instagram cartoon to “whet” your appetite:

So, if you feel inclined, please pop over to Twitter (@hawkerspot) and Instagram (billjonesauthor) to find out what Algernon, Mavis and Reverend Hawker are making of it all.
